Your Top 7 for 2017

We wanted to thank you for making the first year of HudsonValleyEATS.com such a good one!

Here's a look back to some of your favorite stories:

Aba's Falafel Sets Roots in Rhinebeck: Aba’s Falafels are crispy and crunchy on the outside and moist and crumbly on the inside. The falafel is topped with homemade tahini and served with a salad of diced onions, cucumbers and tomato and your choice of pickles, hot peppers, a spicy chili sauce, a tangy mango curry sauce or all of the above. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water!

Tea, Scones, Gifts & a Heart of Gold…Florrie Kaye's Tea Room: Candice Smith and her friend ate their way through the entire menu of this Carmel NY tea and gift shop. Afternoon tea is their specialty. "It's a three-tiered presentation decorated on a cake plate," said Gina Aurisicchio, owner of the tea room.

The Hoot Owl - Cooking it up in Pine Bush: At Hoot Owl you’ll find typical comfort food pub fare--burgers, steak, mac and cheese along Tandoori Chicken, Murgh Makhani (Creamy Chicken Curry, Aloo Gosht (Indian Beef Stew) and Mediterranean specialties such as homemade hummus and Kebobs.

Helena's - Simply THE BEST Pierogis! If you are only to have one pierogi in your life, it needs to be from Helena’s Specialty Foods. If the only pierogis you are familiar with are the kind found in a box in the grocery store freezer--these ARE NOT them! On the other hand, if you were brought up in a Ukrainian or Polish family and remember the pierogis you grandma made, these ARE IT!

Crown Maple: Maple Syrup at its Finest: While you may think the end of winter, while they’re tapping the trees, would be the best time to visit a maple syrup farm, Mike Cobb, CEO of Crown Maple might disagree. His favorite season is the fall, when all the trees are in their colorful glory. And with over 800 acres that’s a lot of color! Madava Farms where Crown Maple is made, is not your typical sugar house.

Chef Stef Gourmet. Chef Stef has taken his years of experience as executive chef and cooking instructor and turned it into something he loves doing (and you dread)—figuring out what’s for dinner, cooking it and delivering it to your Hudson Valley doorstep.

County Fare - Kick Back & Enjoy: Have you been looking for an unpretentious place with really good food and good people? Then you need to head over to County Fare in Wappingers Falls. --a gastropub with a bar and grill feel and a menu focused on great ingredients with options for all.
